Agraforum – Bio N

  • Facilitates the biological fixation of nitrogen from the atmosphere for plant utilisation.
  • Uniform pasture growth and cover.
  • Requires less application for equal/better results than commonly used Urea.

Microbes are applied to soils in a foliar application. The microbes biologically fix Nitrogen from the atmosphere, which can then be used by the plants.

Bio N at a glance

  • Nitrogen fixation
  • El-I-Tech TM harnesses the energy production capabilities of photosynthetic organisms for nitrogen fixation.

Key benefits of Bio N:

  • Facilitates the biological fixation of nitrogen from the atmosphere for plant utilisation.
  • Uniform pasture growth and cover.
  • Requires less application for equal/better results than commonly used Urea.
Bio N will create a more sustainable lifestyle on the farm

The innovative approach to nitrogen fixation, pioneered in South Africa by Gerhard Vermaak and dubbed El-I-Tech involves the application of microbes through foliar spraying, facilitating the biological fixation of nitrogen from the atmosphere for plant utilisation.

Trial results are showing equal or better growth rates with Biodynamic N in comparison to Urea.

How does Bio N work?

It is a combination of nitrogen-fixing bacteria, that feed off sugar and oxygen, and bacteria that photosynthesise in the soil to create these two food sources.

Crops:
Pasture, Maize, Sweetcorn, Wheat, Barley, Potatoes, Fodder Beet, Brassicas and Legumes.

Application rate:

Apply 100g/ha dissolved in 100L of water through in furrow application.

Apply 100g/ha dissolved in 400L of water for spray applicator or via ferti-gation systems.
